Welcome to A Go Journey!
Hey guys! This is for all of my friends and viewers to keep up with me and my journey with the game of Go. Go is an ancient game, dating back to around 2000 B.C., and it is the oldest, still played board game to exist! Go (weiqi in Chinese, Baduk in korean, or igo in Japanese) is not only fun, but it helps grow the mind's abilities to process a problem and it is also proven to raise the IQ! Many people play it to relax, talk with friends, or the learn important values. The game teaches patience, critical thinking, and sacrificing. Not only do those values help in your home life, but they also help in the business world! Many people play the game for the business aspect of it!
In Asia, many people who are good at go as a kid drop out of school to become Insei, or go students. They are sent to a private school to learn go all day and they usually live with an adult sponsor. The adult sponsor is usually a professional go player. That's right, there are pro go players! They compete with other pros in tournaments for money and titles. On average, a pro can make up to $1,000,000 a year in American Dollars!
I hope I have gotten you interested into learning the game, as it has influenced my life greatly. I am sure that without the game I wouldn't have the friends I do, or be able to make the grades that I am able to. Please stick with me as I go over the rules of the game, do some reviews on Go equipment, show you videos and pictures of my experiences (as well as other people's), and even explain how to start a Go club!
